Stories of Hope
Chandra Mim Moktan & Family
Refugees from Bhutan
“While I cherish and share happy moments with my new friends from CommunityLink and Grand Rapids International Fellowship, I reflect back on the eighteen long years of miserable life me and my family spent in the refugee camp in Nepal. I also remember the violations of our rights in Bhutan.
When we came to the United States we were lonely and scared. You have given us help and shown us love and warmth from your hearts. Thank you for all the assistance like providing us warm clothing when we first arrived. Thanks also for the ESL classes, computer classes and orientation programs we have received since our arrival in Grand Rapids. Words cannot say how thankful we are for all of you.”

Refugees from Bhutan
“I am a refugee from Burma. I was eighteen years old and pregnant when I came to the U.S. I came alone, no parents, no relatives, no friends and it was very difficult. However, when I met a friend from Grand Rapids International Fellowship she introduced me to CommunityLink. Many people have helped me and my new daughter Dorothy with the love from their hearts.

Since I started my English classes my teachers are very good and I like the classes too. I am so thankful for the people who encourage me whenever I am down. Thank you so much for your prayers and help, and I pray that God will help you hundred times that you have helped me.”
